Today we’ll be looking at what we call the 13 Divisional Charts. But on the way to that goal, let me just say that in LYD, our great discipline here is to stick with what we can know in Human Design from the level of the Centers. This is quite a discipline, especially for many of the people who are here, who are more advanced students as auditing members of our class.

So I wanted to thank you for your discipline and staying with the LYD level and really coming to understand as much as we each can do in coming back to the very beginning. and seeing how profound the study of the Centers is. It is really quite extraordinary what you can see in a Human Design chart, from the point of view of the Centers.

And we took the first part of our class to really look at the Human Design chart in an archetypal sense of what each of these Centers is, what it does, how it works. feels, if you will, about itself and how extreme its point of view is – as itself. It’s also important to say that how do you put this, that Each Center contains within it each of the gates that can get activated there.

And it also contains within it the channels that can be made by connecting another Center to that particular Center that we’re looking at. So that the G Center contains within it all of the higher self roles that we can play. It contains within it the behaviors, the direction that we can take in life, the love of humanity that we can feel, our ability to stick with things in order to finish them, and all of that is all contained within the Center.

So when we’re speaking about what a Center is like, what we’re actually speaking about, is everything that Center can do. It’s really important to keep that in mind because as you add more information to your studies, all of a sudden you realize we’re talking about the G Center or the Spleen in the ways that we’re speaking about it, and the more detail you have, the more powerful your knowledge becomes.

And the more specific it becomes. And the more specific it becomes, the more you see how it relates to you. So let’s take a moment to go back to Type determination and how it is that we really know what Type we are. And I’m putting this graphic of the whole process up in front of you, because there was a mistake in the last way I showed this slide and Lasita came along and said, there’s a mistake in this.

And it was really important for her to see me correct this, and there’ll be some kind of prize, I’m not sure what it is, for whoever can go back to the slide in the last class and then look at this one and see what the mistake was. Be that as it may, there are these three questions that tell us what Type you are.

Please review this because there’s a lot of underlying information in why we ask these questions. It all has to do with how your Design comes to expressionand whether there are other people involved in your expression. Manifestors can act autonomously in the world, and the three other Types are always connected to other people. And that’s a lot of what we look at when we’re looking at charts. “How are you connected to other people?”

Manifestors, as we’ve heard, hem and haw and say “I want to be autonomous,” but only reluctantly come to the point of going, “oh yeah I am a member of the human species, and that implies certain things, and it actually makes me much happier if I do allow myself to be connected with other people.”

So let’s just jump right in. We’re gonna go to these 13 divisional charts, where our Strategy comes together with our Authority. It’s a kind of fusion process. And the other thing we’re going to be looking at in various ways as we go through these charts, is we’re going to be looking at what is it that your Strategy does in a technical sense?

What does your Strategy really do in order to make your life work? And it gets more and more specific, this is really my point. The deeper we go into this, the more specific it is, and I will point this out with these various divisional charts as we go through them. We start with the Mental Projector, with the chart of Abraham Lincoln, the American President that led the United States through a Civil War and who was specifically responsible for the emancipation of slaves, which he also had to fight for, in front of the Congress, in order to turn that from a proclamation into a Law, which was quite the battle. We can see in this this particular kind of Design, all of these Centers that are open below this extraordinary mental capability that this person has, that the Mental Projector has. So we can see this illustrated in a variety of ways as we go through these little charts off to the left. It’s just showing the various ways that the mental system can be defined. It can be defined just from the Head to the Ajna Center, or from just the Ajna Center to the Throat, or all six channels between the Head and the Throat can be defined.

The Ajna Center is always central in this, and you’ll remember how the Ajna Center is intimately connected to what we might call your fate, the way that our mental construct is set up to bring us into life. To be able to face situations where we get to live out the ideals that we hold as a person as life approaches us. And particularly, this Ajna Center sets it up so that we need to confront situations where we need to put things into action. And critical in this process is our own attitude, who we are as a person, the quality of our character as a person. And as we confront the circumstances in life, it puts us in front of certain challenges.

You’ll remember that we talked about this from the perspective of you being the one who set all of this in motion. You were the one who had certain things that you wanted to accomplish in this life, to be the person that you wanted to be, and it is in fact all of those situations that pour in through your open Centers.

And with the Mental Projector, you see the intensity of what that can be like. We can speak about these things if we’re not a mental Projector, and we can have a sense for them. But it’s a very important lesson to learn that we really can’t truly imagine what it is like to have been Abraham Lincoln at that point in history and what it meant and how intense it was. How much power this person needed to wield in order to bring an entire nation through a civil war. I just want to rest for a moment on our imagining as best as we can, if we’re not a mental Projector. What it is like to face life with that kind of intensity, and to know that you have something to bring to that situation, this mental resource, which is extraordinarily important, that the world needs.

That is an Authority for other people. It is not an Authority for you. It is a gift that you have to give to the world. And in order to be able to give that gift to the world, somehow you need to be able to deal with the intensity of what can come in through those open Centers. Now this chart of Rosanna Benzi, Mental Projector, is someone who spent her life in an iron lung, because she got polio when she was a child.

I think it was around nine years old. And yet this person demonstrated, in no uncertain terms, the victory of the human spirit over extraordinarily difficult situations. This person became world famous as a writer, as somebody who advocated for the rights of other handicapped people. This Ajna Center spoke. She must have had her arms and hands free of the iron lung. She lived her entire life in this situation. But she accomplished extraordinary things.

So when we speak about the echolocation, where the speaking voice goes out into the world, and we could have a debate, if somebody is, who doesn’t have a definition to the Throat, can they speak? Here’s the news, folks. Every human being can speak, and at times must speak. And if you’re a Mental Projector, you must speak, because that is your way of venturing into this realm of open Centers below the Throat, and to be able to hear whether there’s a frequency, whether there is a recognition, whether there is some kind of appreciation for that gift you have to bring to the world.

And this is why it’s so important for all Projectors, not just Mental Projectors, but in an extreme case with Mental Projectors, that you understand what it is that you have to offer. And how important that thing is to offer, and when it needs to be offered, and to whom it needs to be offered. But in this case, it’s very extreme.

“What am I hearing in my own voice that echoes back to me, that tells me something about the people who surround me?” “And to what degree are they looking for what I have to offer, which is something considerable and important?” With Projectors, often we speak about how they’re not burdened with the energy of the sacral Center, nor are they burdened with the energy of having to manifest. And because they’re not burdened by those particular kinds of energy, their definitions are free to operate with unbounded intelligence, that they have something that is so extraordinary inside of them that must somehow come out into the world. And this is what the echolocation is listening for, that recognition in the other — of their potential, of what it is that they offer, and how important that is.

The more you listen for it, the more extraordinary that process becomes. Because you can hear it. And it is particularly listening for the higher self roles coming out of the G Center that you might be able to play in the recognition of what this Mind, this is not the mind with a small m, this is the mind with a capital M. This is the Buddha Mind, the Design Mind. The master Mind, what the master Mind has to offer when it hears that invitation in the tone of voice that they use, and as that tone of voice meets the tone of voice of the other. It’s really quite a mystical process.

Key to this is really recognizing yourself, what it is that you have to offer, and hearing that reflected back to you in the people in your life, who do not, and the people in your life who do recognize you, you’ll pick up on that, and you follow that, almost like a magnetic force. Those particular people represent a situation that draws you forward into your life to that extraordinary place where you get to succeed because other people start taking advantage of this mental capacity that you have.

Moving from here to the self-projected Authority, if you will, G Center, Authority Projector. This is where the G Center comes to the Throat, and you can see over here on this side, just watching my cursor here, where there are these four voices that can be made from this G Center. A G Center Projector has at least one of these voices defined to the Throat through a channel, and that is a channel that has Authority.

As we move on in our Human Design studies, we find exactly what that channel is and what that channel means. But as a general principle, this is somebody who has something to say and they must say it to those people who invite them. It is a powerful voice. It is the voice of Awakening, which means the G Center represents within itself the experience of Initiation, the expansion of consciousness, and when you feel yourself speak with that voice, it is the voice of Awakening.

There can be mental definition in any of these charts below. That definition in the mind makes no difference to exactly how this design has its Authority. The Authority in this case is an inner Authority, and inner Authorities always take place below the Throat. It’s a structural thing. And so the Strategy of this particular Projector is to know, “I have something to say.” And sometimes it is essential that I speak. It also has the Higher Self role of being the Witness or the Listener, the person who can listen to other people and establish rapport with them. Or it is the person who becomes the Example. Or, in some instances, the person who is the leader.

Now in this case, with Steven Spielberg, the most prolific movie director the world has ever known, he has this channel of the leader, for good or bad, the design of a Leader. His leadership is extraordinary. His ability to be able to be that Projector who sees and manages an organization. He has worked with the same team of videographers and all of the members of his team for his entire career. They work together in a way that’s extraordinary. And the other very important thing about this particular design is that there can be nothing defined below it. Because if the Ego were defined, or the Spleen were defined, or the Sacral Center, or Solar Plexus were defined, it wouldn’t be a G Center projected Authority.

So the G Center is free to speak when the situation is right. And of course, as we’ve been discussing, those invitations can come in all kinds of very subtle ways. Subtle, but obvious ways. But it’s really important for us to take a look that these Centers have to be open in order for this design to work. So who is this G Center going to speak to, or guide? As it is designed to do, to lead them, in this case.

And as we go along, we realize all of these Centers below the G Center have to be open. And these just happen to be the other Centers that can be Authorities.

We can’t say which of these open Centers is the most important, although the Ego Center is so close to the G Center, there’s a pretty good chance that this Higher Self Authority needs to speak to the Ego Center, whether it’s defined or undefined, to give it guidance. If that Ego Center has the sense to recognize the Higher Self, and it will at a certain point, either in this life or the next life, or God knows what life it might be.

But at some point, that Ego needs to hear the voice of the Higher Self, as you’ll remember when we reviewed the Ego Center and how we went into that in some depth, and this extraordinary evolution that it needs to go through. But this is just an example. We don’t know who’s been in your life. There’s no way for us to see that in a Human Design chart, and it’s very important to admit that.

In a reading, we can guess what kind of experiences might come to you. What dominant Egos may have been part of your life? And we can surmise that maybe that is a really important aspect of your life. But honestly, we don’t know who your father was or who your mother was. Not really. Not unless we do their charts, but there could be these people who come into your life who represent themselves through these open Centers, and each one of them is somebody who needs to recognize and invite, in this case, Leadership, or invite through your Listening, or invite through your Awakening to Higher Principles, or being an example of that whole process.

Now, if this were a coaching client, or you were a therapist, one of these Centers would be the first thing they talk about. It is possible that maybe some ideas would float around, or some way of seeing the world would make itself evident. But when you get down to the meat of the session, it’s one of these Centers that they will speak about. And the level of challenge that was involved in that. And what it was like to have something to say in the face of that. And whether that person would listen, would be able to hear what you have to say, because you have this Higher Self voice, and you know how valuable that is.

Moving to the next divisional chart, we have the Ego Projected Authority, where there is a channel from the Ego Center to the G Center, and of course, this speaks about the importance of the relationship of the Ego Center to the Higher Self, and the evolutionary process that the Ego needs to go through to evolve its own motivations from that spectrum.

That goes all the way from things about ourselves that we would not care to admit to other people, the thoughts that we have, the vengeance we may feel, the resentments we could have, the desire to take revenge, all the way to a saintly valor of the hero who, in the process of Initiation, learns to play Higher Self roles through its guidance relationship with the G Center.

So we can see in these various little charts here, examples of how this G Center, when it’s connected to the Ego Center, can reach up toward the Throat. And as an Ego, it’s waiting for the invitation from somebody here to say, “Can you imagine, really, what this person goes through in possession of the kind of truth that they can see?”

And here are these same activations reaching down to this person who’s going through this intense Initiation process where their consciousness is being lifted into this realm where they can evolve. And we think about Bernie Sanders and what it is like to listen to him and how important it is that there are other people in this person’s life who have a defined Throat or who may reach through one of these connections down to this person who’s going through this deep initiation process.

And so we can’t help but think this is pretty important. So in this case, we need to look above this definition to this voice and how important that voice can be. And how this person needs to solve on some level and in some way: What is their relationship with speaking the truth that they see?

And that speaking can be quite difficult; It’s like reaching across an abyss. This is a single definition chart, which means that other people are quite a mystery. “What do I say? Or how do I say it?” And the next time you listen to Bernie Sanders speak, or you go back to listen to one of his YouTube videos, you can hear how difficult it is for him to reach across that gap.

And as he speaks every word with the punctuation of his hands, because this is the voice of a person who’s reaching across that abyss to teach other people what it is like to go through an Initiation experience.

And then we can see that any Center that is below the Ego Center has to be open. And here we see the Ego between the open Throat — the need to speak or to have someone to speak on his behalf, someone who truly knows him deep within who he is in terms of the Initiation that he’s going through, the expansion of consciousness that he’s going through, someone who is a friend who can understand what this is like.

And this is quite a rare design, if we look at it. We can see that there can be no other channel below the Throat at all. And you think about, oh my gosh, what must that be like? And how important someone who can be a friend, a true friend, would be. So that you don’t have to always be explaining what you’re going through.

They’re a friend! They’re close to you! They know what it is like to be stuck as the defined Ego, going through the initiation process and evolving as a person in the most intense way imaginable. And if you look at the biography of various people who have this definition, you realize what they can go through and what it means for them to survive.

So here you see this sequence where the person is between this Throat here and then the Centers that Open down below. And again, we can’t know. This isn’t part of Human Design, actually, to predict who is going to occupy these open Centers, or the impact that they will have on you. That’s not really there.

We can know a fair amount about it when we get down to these receptors that are on these open Centers. But to think that we can predict how your, quote, not self will evolve or behave is ridiculous. We don’t know the life that you’ve lived. We can give examples of it respectfully. Oh, I knew this person, and this is what they went through.

And yes, maybe your client in a reading will be able to identify with that in their own way. But not in some way that we can predict. Human Design is not about prediction. Human Design is what you do with your Strategy. What does this Ego do as part of its Strategy? It recognizes that it’s going through an internal process through which its worldview is being opened up as if by a can-opener to a totally different level of reality.

Who will be friends and who will help it confront what it otherwise might do, and to evolve to see that. And in fact, wherever this definition appears within anyone’s design, it is extraordinarily important.

Here we see the Ego Authority Manifester, or the Ego manifested Authority. This is Al Gore; he ran against George Bush in the 2000 election. He actually won. which we know from a recount that happened after the Supreme Court intervened. If this man had been elected President of the United States, who was a champion to combat global warming, we would be living in a different world.

That’s what this man was born to manifest. Take a look at that and what that must mean. Did he stop? No, he loaded everything into a wheelie and went on a tour worldwide talking to every leader of the world who would listen and doing his best. to propel us toward being able to combat global warming and face the most powerful existential crisis that we have ever faced.

This is the voice, a primary voice of manifestation, the 21/45, that says, we all must have. It is in relationship, in one way or another, we can see that it’s in relationship with the G Center in this case. This G Center is coming out with this Ego voice, and you can see from these examples down here how it can manifest in various ways.

This relationship with the G Center is so extraordinarily important that it appears in every notable or famous person who’s listed in our database of notable and famous people with Ego Authority manifested. This relationship between the G Center and the Ego is so incredibly important. Now, it may come into your life through relationship, if you have an Ego manifested Authority.

It is so extraordinarily important. This points to how we can see within the Design how important relationships are to us. That’s what we see in open Centers. We see relationship there. We see the potential to connect. We see the ability, hopefully, to share what it is that we have to offer. In this case, an impulse that says, in order to have at all, we need to have relationships with each other. This is that Ego’s relationship with the open Spleen. In order to survive, we need to be able to share and reach consensus on what it is that we need to do in order to survive. For what? The sake of life itself – the Open Sacral Center, to communicate and to be able to build relationship and consensus, to evolve in consultation with each other. The Solar Plexus, we can see what this person is talking about and who they might talk to.

And so we want to carry this principle forward whenever we’re looking at, in this case, the Splenic Authority Projector. For a splenic Authority Projector, the Sacral Center has to be open, and it is next down the chain of the Descent of Authorities. So there has to be this major confrontation between the Spleen, the wisdom of experience, and the Sacral Center, the sacredness of life. It’s built into the chart. This is the compelling relationship for the Splenic Authority Projector.

It’s overwhelmingly compelling that they solve this relationship with the Sacral Center and the people who come into its life for that Spleen to form a relationship with other people who are Generators.

It is a necessary relationship, and it’s a necessary confrontation where this wisdom of the Spleen forms a relationship with life itself, a guiding relationship with life itself. And next in line down the chain of command, so to speak, of Authorities, is the Solar Plexus. The Spleen forms a relationship with the Sacral Center and a relationship with the Solar Plexus.

Oh yes, it is important for Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned for 27 years, for getting it wrong and going on a bombing campaign in South Africa as part of an ill-fated revolutionary process. Yes, he had lots of time, 27 years in fact, to think about it. And to realize there had to be another way.

And on the left hand side you can see how the Spleen can be defined in various ways in order to become a Splenic Authority Projector. But the thing that is common about each one of these charts is that the next lower in the chain of Authority, the Sacral Center, is always open. And the Solar Plexus is always open.

And then the Ego, which is the next up in the chain, is not always open, but often open. These are about relationships and the Authority of the Spleen as it makes decisions about those relationships. When it makes decisions about the challenges in those relationships. There’s a huge challenge. The Sacral Center looks at the world in an entirely different way. An entirely different way than the Spleen does. They need to enter into a relationship in order for something new to happen, for us to evolve as a species, for us to be able to reach consensus, to reach a higher synthesis. And so on. This is the person who founded the Council of Reconciliation between people who perpetrated criminal racism and apartheid with the victims of apartheid, and they came together and worked it out.

Then we come to the Splenic Manifested Authority. We wonder what it is that the Splenic Manifested Authority needs to communicate, needs to inform others about. Manifestors are in the world to create something new. Something that just didn’t exist previously, like in this case, Ra Uru Hu — the Human Design system.

We will be grappling with what the Human Design system is for the next 300 years. There’s just no other way. It’s too true to be dismissed. And yet what is buried in it and what it offers us is extraordinary. And this Design had a very specific burden to be able to communicate what it is that he saw, what was shown to him, and its implications.

Even if nobody understood him for 300 years, in fact, and in truth, and in depth. What kind of a life is that, and who is he going to be informing? The Sacral Center. People complain “I’m a mental Projector, I feel like I got left behind the door when the Human Design was left, handed out.” That’s because Ra was speaking to the Sacral Center and the 70 percent of people in the world that are Generators because he needed to reach them to come to a relationship with the sacredness of life, to not run after their life and thereby chase it away — to say “we’re not talking about waiting like you’re waiting in a dentist’s office for a dentist who can’t keep his schedule. No, that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about the fact that life is sacred, and you offer it to other people. Can you feel that? Can you encompass that? Can you realize how important you are, that your energy is sacred, or the Solar Plexus? “

We can see who this person needs to bring his splenic Authority to and to take the initiative to do but we can’t tell you who those people are, or what this person’s childhood was like, or what he went through, and what he needed to get through in order to be able to inform other people. By being his friend, I have certain knowledge of what he went through and what he needed to overcome in order to inform the Sacral Center or the Solar Plexus. And to do his best to communicate the Human Design system to them is a big deal. And this is the truth about every Manifester, that every Manifester needs to take years and years to find what it is that they came into the world to bring to others. And when they have it, Splenic Manifestor needs to explain that, first of all, to Generators, and then to Solar Plexus, and then to everyone else, unless they die early. That’s 62, which was way too soon. Too soon. And the reason he died early is because of how hard he worked, and what he did get to us.bAnd he asked us to complete the process.

This is the example of a classical Sacral Generated Authority. This is Dolly Parton, the famous country singer, who was born just a few hours differently than David Lynch, one of the strangest people in the world, who made movies that kind of creep you out for the rest of your life if you watch them.

These are deeply unique people, and Dolly Parton, of course, was dismissed for very many years as being whatever. People had a lot to say. But it just turns out that she has become really influential and has used her ability to respond to people and connect with them and to transform their lives in various ways through powerful really powerful charities giving thousands of books to children around the world so that they can have the experiences of reading at home as young children. This is the power of the Sacral Center: To  do what? To connect with people, To empower people. But the word connect is the word that fits. This is about making a bond.

Now, the Spleen can be defined in a Sacral generated Authority. They kind of work together, especially if they’re connected, but they work together  — in the now. That wisdom, the ability to protect the life force, and so on, they’re pretty good friends. But the Spleen goes along with the sacral Center. It’s very important to know this, especially as we begin to look at things like split definition charts.

The Sacral Center has the power to connect, not just on a personal level. Here we have the Sacral Authority Manifesting Generator, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Here we have the situation where the Sacral Center is the Authority. So this particular Manifesting Generator is in a position where that Sacral power, that ability to connect, that ability to have regard for the life force, to be able to function along with the connectedness in how life works, reigns supreme in the same way as it does with somebody without that Manifesting capability.

Here we have the 34/20 as the archetypal channel of the Manifesting Generator that goes from the Sacral Center to the Throat to stand up for the dignity and the integrity and the overriding sacred quality of life with a power and a fierceness, which is almost unimaginable in terms of its power and its bravery.

It’s a simple Sacral response now, with Manifesting Generators. We always need to talk about how this capacity to manifest can operate as a distraction to this capability of being able to be there in response and connectedness. So we tend to speak about Manifesting Generators as though they have some kind of handicap.

You’re a Generator. There’s no ‘but’ involved. It’s just, do you understand the depth of that Sacral Center and what it means? To hold life in the highest regard. So when it comes to times when life is being violated, when it’s being denigrated, do you organize a movement? Do you connect not only with your friend or the next door neighbor, but do you connect with millions?

Because this is what Generators can do. Generators can be people who respond to creating a movement to protect the dignity of life, to demand full consent in each and every relationship. That’s power. When you look at a Generator chart, there’s one word that should come to mind : Power. Power to persist, the power to retain power until the right moment, the power to wait, the power to nurture and care, the power to finish things, the power to focus and concentrate, the power to connect with other people and to create new life and the power to nurture and care and most of all, the power to create mutation. Even the power to create new people by the millions as they come into our species to overcome the genetic limitations that we have toward violence and warfare to stand up (34/20) for the dignity of life.

Any Manifesting design that also has a Sacral Center defined operates according to this principle: “Am I responding to the dignity of life, and am I willing to fight for it non-violently, so that the mutant can live, that we have an opportunity to transcend the tribal taboo that says if you have a child that’s different, you have an obligation to hit it on the side of the head with a rock and kill it? This is standing up for life. So every time you look at a Manifesting Generator Design, always with sacral Authority, then this is what it’s about. The power in it – is a power that needs to be channeled, in the direction of lifing life support, particularly, at this point in history.

Now there are diistictly two kinds of generators, and it is not the difference between a Manifesting Generator and a classical Generator.

It’s the difference between people who are Generators and who have Solar Plexus Authority. Now that’s a different kind of Generator, because the Sacral Center is not the Authority. The Authority of the emotional Generator is to go through an emotional process. Like any Generator, things come to you. The more you surrender, not necessarily to waiting, but simply to being yourself, to valuing what it is that you’re already doing, to value who you are and what you represent as a living representative of the life force, the more that you come to that Self, the more people are magnetized to you because of your power to empower others.

With Projectors, with Generators, it’s all about being able to see how much you’re giving to other people already just because you exist. What’s the hurry? What’s the hurry in trying to give more than what you are? With the Emotional Generator, the decision goes directly to the Solar Plexus. The Solar Plexus makes the decision.

The Solar Plexus says, “Yes, this is a relationship or a connection with other people through which I can evolve and I can support other people to evolve, because we’re willing to go through what it takes to be in relationship, which is to be able to experience the highs and the lows, the exaltation and the detriment, the agony and the ecstasy of relationship — all that a relationship entails, the willingness and the ability to encompass all of that relationship and stick with it and to grow and evolve because of it.”

And the only reason that a Solar Plexus ever says No to that process is when the commitment to that process comes to an end, in that connection.

So it’s the Solar Plexus that says,  “Yes, it is possible to grow and develop here, or No, actually, that has come to an end. I can’t go on. I can’t do this. It’s not changing. Nobody’s relating anymore. They’re just watching the TV. The shopping channel, whatever it is, they’re not there anymore.” Then the Solar Plexus says, “Okay, I recognize that there’s nothing more than I can do.”

So if the Solar Plexus says yes, then the Sacral Center confirms that, and it says,  “Aha, Okay, I’ll engage. I connect.” And if the Solar Plexus says “No, it’s over,” the Sacral Center responds to the Solar Plexus and says, “Okay, contract is canceled due to a lack of interest.” And it executes the decision. Now, this is still a Generator because it is the Sacral Center that either confirms or executes the relationship. But it’s the Solar Plexus that makes the decision in this case.

Here, we’re looking at a Split Definition, a very important split definition. We have the channel of intimacy and the channel through which a fated connection can be recognized and to go through crisis with other people. And then we have a split definition here: the channel of Initiation that we talked about previously. Initiation is something that we can undertake voluntarily. 51/25. This is something that can be very shocking.

This is a lifetime where we can see this. Basically a really sweet person, Albert Einstein, very much a person of imagination, you can see this Solar Plexus in action, his ability to think around corners, around the curvature of space and time, but he didn’t anticipate that technology would take a hold of his capacity and turn it into nuclear weapons.

It was a big shock. A really big shock. And in fact, that really didn’t get fully resolved during his lifetime. He was a little bit late in realizing what was going on. It’s tragic. It’s a tragic situation. And we can see how it is so important for the Solar Plexus to make the decision. “Not all people are people that I want to be in relationship with directly or indirectly. And in fact, there’s certain things that I can see. That are extraordinarily important that I keep in a relative secrecy.”

Now, I have no idea how he would’ve handled that, so things went better for him. He has the gate of Crisis, and at the moment that the first atomic bomb was tested in Alamogordo, New Mexico, not too far from where I live, the whole channel of crisis and transition came on at the moment of the blast. Ra made the comment. “Thanks for the crisis. Albert.”

It’s not for us to judge these things. It really isn’t. And to make some prediction that it’s always going to be the case in the quote “not self”, I’m sorry. That’s above our pay-grade.

Human Design is not about prediction. But it is also something that we can see that maybe this person succeeded in ways that he wished that he didn’t.

We are going to forge on, for those of you who can, and if you do need to go to another engagement, I certainly do realize we don’t have that much further to go.

We’re finishing up with Albert Einstein. Lasita and I, and Richard, both live within the blast radius of Los Alamos, the place where the atomic bomb was invented. There will be no injuries in the event of an attack where we live. We will all be vaporized. There is no question about it. The level of crisis that came into the world because of Albert Einstein and the people who took advantage of his incredible genius is tragic. It’s fully tragic.

I don’t know what to say about that. What would you have said if he had come to you as a Human Design professional. That’s a very good question. But it would not have been off-putting or it wouldn’t have been inappropriate to say: “You live in your own little world. There’s no doubt about that. You are world famous in spite of that. But there is some possibility that there is a shock awaiting you. You might want to take a look at that.”

“And by the way, you might want to make friends with some people who have a very keen sense of what it means to survive and what the threats to life could be.” I’m talking about that completely open Spleen there. If when we look at an open Center, we think, what kind of friends? Would it be really nice if this person had, and who could speak with him, quite frankly, about his concerns? Because undoubtedly he was concerned, we know that. But what was it that he might have been able to do with people who were close to him, who had a very strong feeling for how naïve he was, and how maybe he just didn’t quite get it? Or if he was getting it, maybe he was getting it a little too late, I don’t know.

But those are the kinds of decisions you, as a Human Design professional, if you’re headed in that direction, will need to make. Let’s leave it there.

Now here we have the Emotional Manifesting Generator. Again, This is a Generator. But the thing that makes them different is not the fact that they are a Manifesting Generator. Yes, that same capacity to manifest without limit is there, for sure. And that Gate 20, and the capacity, and the ability to represent millions. Yes, it’s there. We can see it in that Throat Center. And it’s undeniable that, in fact, this person did influence millions of people. But it all comes back to what the Authority is.

And this is in fact what your Authority and your Strategy together can do. What is important is to learn is what your Strategy is really meant to do — It’s important to know and familiarize yourself with what your Authority is and how it works. And most importantly, to put it first.

There are all kinds of situations, and we’ll look at a few of them, where there are conflicts within a design. Yes, our ability to manifest can run out of control, especially with Manifesting Generators, because they are blessed with a huge amount of energy — all the more reason to place the Authority first. If you want to see an image of an Emotional Generator burning out, study the life of Bob Dylan. And watch, I believe the biopic was called No Way Home, but I’m not sure of that. [Correction: I’m Not There (2007)]

Toward the end of this first disc, I think it is, it came out on DVD, you will see the picture of a Manifesting Generator in full-blown burnout. I have never seen it any other place. But it is something that anyone who is a Manifesting Generator, and particularly an Emotional Manifesting Generator, really should watch. It’s unbelievable. And to be honest with you, he never, ever recovered from it. He needed to say, “no, not going there, not doing this” way sooner than he did. The man was overshadowed with the Muse to a degree that was breathtaking. But at this point he says, “I can’t write a song like that.” Who can write a song like that? I certainly don’t know. Nor can I. He lost contact with the Muse. It’s okay, he’s still a great musician. No knocking it. But to realize when something is really not working for you in that Solar Plexus, doesn’t matter how much loyalty you have, or revolutionary fervor, or provocation to be inspiring, when the conflict is really going badly and the Sacral Center will go, “okay it’s done, I’m not doing this anymore,” and that man needed to stop sooner. It’s a lesson, it sounds a little bit ominous, I’m sorry, but it’s really important. It’s really important to be able to say “No” when it is not working for you.

Over the left hand side, we see the various ways that this Solar Plexus Manifesting Generator can work. Yes, the Solar Plexus can be split, but the Solar Plexus is the Authority. And when the Solar Plexus makes the decision, the Sacral Center responds. “ Aha, Yes.” Or “Ugh,ugh, No.” That’s the way it works. Emotional clarity reigns supreme, and then the Sacral Center executes the decision.

We come to the Solar Plexus Authority Projector.

This is Barack Obama, a previous President of the United States. I don’t know whether he’s the only Projector President we’ve had, but here’s somebody who really knew how to recognize the moment. I don’t know how he knew, but he did. When Ra Uru Hu first introduced Projectors, it is this channel that he put up on his little overhead Projector, the channel of Recognition.

The ability to recognize the moment, to recognize the people, to recognize who would recognize him, and who would be willing and able to go through the process with him. He was elected on the theme of hope. But as you get to know more about Human Design, you’ll see that he actually has a detriment on Gate 30, that says the person who can inspire both hope and despair. And in this case, the hope and despair of a nation as to whether it will fulfill its evolutionary potential to transform relationship — to be able to recognize that moment where we need to give guidance to other people about how relationships go, and how trying and difficult relationships can be.

I can tell you one thing. This man discovered how difficult relationships can be. And yet, at the same time, we recognize our moment in history, whether it’s small or whether it’s large. It’s this capacity for the Projector, and particularly the Emotional Projector, to be able to recognize the moment, that what they have to offer, that incredible ability to see a situation so incredibly starkly, with such a sharp focus.

To see the whole situation, it’s so important to realize how unusual this is. This vision that is like Xray vision that just goes CHOO! And it sees what’s going on. Oh, and how difficult it is to wait at that moment. To realize that, “yes, you can see it, but it’s very important for other people to realize that they’re ready to see it themselves.”

You arrive early, and the Solar Plexus gives you this indication in this case, you need to look at the fact that the Solar Plexus is at the end of the chain of the Descent of Authorities. It’s an encompassing Authority that knows that everything is dependent on everything else. The amount of progress you can make in a situation depends on everybody involved in it.

You can see it, you can see the dysfunction within the situation, but the guidance is to just take that extra moment. And this extends straight across the five different Authorities that can function as Projectors: Splenic Projectors, Ego Projectors, G-Center Projectors, Mental Projectors, and Solar Plexus Projectors.

Let’s just keep in mind the lesson here that says, Patience. Patience. Be patient. People take time. People go through things. People are ready. And sometimes they’re ready and then they’re not ready because they’re going around the merry-go-round of their life one more time. How many times, how many people do you know who’ve had to break up with a cherished lover more than once?

And if they do it more than three times? There’s some question whether they will survive that. But those are the facts of life. People take time. They need to go through things. It’s all in the precision of the recognition of that moment. where the person realizes for themselves that they have to make a change.

Are they going to print you a formal invitation with gold lettering on it, like it’s to a wedding or a funeral? No. But your capability as a Projector is to be able to see that in their eyes — that mutual recognition, that mutual appreciation, the fact that you waited until that moment, their appreciation for that. And then they say, “Is there any chance you know what’s going on?” That’s your time.

And finally, the Solar Plexus Authority Manifestor. And here we have the chart of Leonard Cohen. I’m pretty sure that most people here are going to be familiar with Leonard Cohen’s work and his music. And his deep, I don’t know how to describe it, but this Solar Plexus Manifestation of emotional energy, you know the song “Hallelujah,” I think there were 105 different versions of that song that he wrote and he worked on it for decades, two versions reached it to wide distribution, but initially it was rejected by the recording company.

Did he give up? No. “I have something that is deeply emotional.” You can hear it in his voice. And here we also have an example, a very important, a very good example, of a Split Definition.

Now the way split definitions are generally spoken about is that you feel that there is something missing in you, that there’s something wrong with you. If it’s a single bridge there’s something wrong with you. If it’s a slightly wider separation, then there’s something wrong with your partner. If it’s a very wide split, then there’s something wrong with everyone. Perhaps the most important person who’s existed in history, with a very wide split :Carl Rogers, a therapist changed all of western civilization. Of course, everyone has a problem. Of course, your partner has a problem. Of course, you have a problem. I’m sorry. But that’s not the point. The point is that the primary action of your Strategy is to recognize which Center makes decisions in your Design and how it makes decisions in your Design.

Now, there are two phases of Strategy. One is to investigate yourself and to find out more about how you work inside. And also to go deep inside to see, to develop that felt sense for that Authority, and how it works, and what happens there, what it goes through. And of course, when we’re looking at a chart with a Solar Plexus defined Authority, we realize the depth of that.

But it’s really the same. We have this internal process that we need to go through. For a splenic Projector, we need to go to that Spleen. And over the years, we discover how it really works and how it makes decisions. It’s a trial and error process, certainly.

And with the Solar Plexus, it’s a deeply emotional process. that truly takes time, that truly deserves all the time that you give it. How does it work? How does it work in you to investigate that with the deepest possible reverence for the fact that’s what you were born with, that’s what the life force gave you?This is the mechanism through which you live. and to give all the time to it that it needs to bring it into full flower within you when you do that.

For the next three classes, we are going to talk about your charts. And we’re going to look at the structure of how your chart works, the priorities within your Design. So here the priority is the Solar Plexus.

The Solar Plexus makes decisions… in this case, about what this person will manifest in song. And when it’s very clear what comes first, then the other part of the Split works along with it. It all gets in line. The Spleen, in this case, recognizes who the Authority is. The perfected form, a design for survival, comes in right behind the Solar Plexus. It does so just because that’s how the definition works.

Split definitions are about a conversation that you have inside. Split definitions have an advantage within relationships, because they already have one. And if you’re triple split, you have at least two. And if you’re quad, you have at least three. You have relationships going on inside of you.

But the most important thing in those relationships that are inside, is what are the priorities of your Design? What comes first? What comes second? What comes third? And knowing that order and the structure of that is how you make decisions. And to recognize and to see that very clearly, and to then pursue your Authority making those decisions, that’s what we mean by Living Your Design.

Normally, what I’m talking to you about now is not learned in Human Design until the professional training. The time that we need to talk about it, and the time that it is best to learn it, is now. And this is what we’ll be doing in the last four classes of our series. We’ll be talking about your charts, and how they work, what the priorities are within it, and how the different parts of your Design naturally cooperate with each other once you put them in order.

Now, you’ll be putting them in order. That’s about Strategy, because Strategy is what you do on behalf of yourself. and on behalf of your Design, to surrender to the design, to learn to cooperate with it, to recognize its priorities, and how it makes decisions, and how it’s doing that for your benefit. And it’s quite specific.

It is not something general.

I’ll put one more slide in front of you and then wrap it up here. In our last 30 seconds, this is the chart of Ursula K. Le Guin, Sacral Authority Generator. You can see that she has a very major split off to the left hand side: Splenic split definition, and Sacral Authority.

This is a very famous writer. Some of you may know her. If you don’t, I would strongly advise that you might want to look into her work. But once that Sacral Center, in its capacity to create worlds and to succeed at doing so, knows that it’s in charge, everything follows that. And then the Spleen and the Throat and the Ajna Center fall into line behind it.

This is what she mastered throughout her life. You can read her biography and you can see her doing it. It took time. Perhaps we have an advantage because we know of this list of priorities within this particular Design, or you can see the priorities within your Design and the order in which they work.

So this is what I’m looking forward to. I’m really looking forward to teaching you in this class what people normally don’t learn for another two years. But one thing I learned from teaching those more advanced classes is that Living Your Design is where this needed to happen. So with that, let me go, and I will look forward to seeing you all next week, and I will look forward to looking at your charts, and we’ll go from there.
