Founder of the Human Design System

Ra Uru Hu, was born Alan (Robert) Krakower on April 9, 1948. He was a fascinating figure who became widely known as the founder and messenger of The Human Design System. He dedicated his life to investigating its intricate workings and sharing its wisdom with the world.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Ra Uru Hu grew up with a deep curiosity about the mysteries of life and a profound desire to understand the nature of human existence. After he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, he entered the business world and became an advertising executive, magazine publisher, and media expert. After he left Canada, his journey took him through various paths of exploration, including being a grade school teacher, a life-long career as a musician, and an enthusiastic student of cultural mythology.

In January 1987, he had an unusual mystical experience where he encountered an intelligence he called “The Voice.” This profound experience marked a radical turning point in his life. During that encounter, Ra Uru Hu received a revelation of what became the Human Design System. It was a synthesis of various ancient and modern esoteric teachings, including Astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system.

Ra Uru Hu spent the following years immersed in studying what he had received, and he carefully named all the elements of the bodygraph to make the transmission accessible to others. He analyzed thousands of individual charts to verify the accuracy and practicality of the system.

Ra began teaching Human Design to his friends in Ibiza. Then, he traveled extensively establishing National Organizations in numerous countries. He gave thousands of lectures and consultations. He published “The Human Design System,” nicknamed the “Black Book” in 1991, which contained the first version of the ”Rave I’Ching.” Ra published a second book in 1995 called “From The Book of Letters” which is now widely referred to as “The White Book.” Dozens of Ra’s lectures have been transcribed into books that are vital materials used in his educational program by aspiring students and professionals. There are also notable reference books published by his National Organizations that are key to the serious study of Human Design.

Ra Uru Hu’s teachings were characterized by his unique style of transmission. His lectures and workshops were often captivating, filled with stories, humor, and profound insights. He had a remarkable ability to communicate complex concepts in a way that was accessible and relatable, enabling people from all walks of life to grasp the power and potential of Human Design.

Recognizing the necessity for a more comprehensive educational approach, in 2003, he revised the foundational education as well as the professional training. He then retrained all of the teachers world wide, with the motto, “This is the education that Human Design deserves, and this is the education that Human Design will get.” Implementing this revision was a monumental task, but it led to a rigorous certification program.

Starting with a year-long program, this educational pathway begins with three sequential courses, each building upon the previous one, to lay a solid foundation for the rest of the Analyst Training which follows. An additional seven semesters help students to develop excellent presentation skills, so that they can deliver information articulately in readings, relationship consultations and coaching sessions. The Analyst Training Program concludes with a certification exam.

During the next 2 years, Ra Uru Hu established the “Living Your Design Guide” program as a milestone in his educational efforts. This program trains students, after the Foundation Year, to become Guides who assist others in navigating their Human Design. It equips Guides with the knowledge and skills to support individuals in aligning with their true nature and purpose. Graduates can also teach the foundational course: Living Your Design.

Throughout his life, Ra Uru Hu remained dedicated to the evolution and dissemination of the Human Design System. He passed away on March 12, 2011, leaving behind a profound legacy. His pioneering work continues to inspire and empower countless individuals, helping them embrace their unique Design and navigate the complexities of life with greater authenticity and fulfillment. Ra Uru Hu’s contributions to the field of personal transformation and spiritual evolution remain an enduring testament to his profound insight and unwavering commitment to the exploration of human potential.
