Please read through the linked documents that are provided in this student page..

Just as a reminder, as we continue with our class, please always check under where it says “My Account” to confirm that you are logged in. If you are not logged in, it may confuse you, if you cannot find what you are looking for. The Learning Platform logs you out occasionally, when you are inactive.

The Documents listed there are:

The first document is on Wild Mind Writing, presented as a review of Natalie Goldberg’s book: “Writing Down the Bones.” This is a brief description of how the free associative writing practice works. The most basic and crucial element of Wild Mind Writing is the ‘Timed Writing Exercise’ The whole process is simple but specific. Your assignments for this course will take place through 10-minute timed writing exercises.

The next document, is a review of the “Morning Pages, which is a delightful, creative practice  for your personal well-being, presented by Julia Cameron in her book: The Artist’s Way.” This involves a daily writing practice, which many people find extremely helpful for both their learning process and their lives in general.

Specific reading for this homework are the Class Specific Documents for Class 1:

A document about the Three Awareness Centers and the Learning Process plus two “Center-Briefs” about the Splenic Center and the Solar Plexus Center.
There is a numbered list of points under each of the Center-Briefs narratives.

Please listen to the class and read through these documents, making brief notes as you go, picking out certain points that you found moving in class, or something that caught your interest, reminded you of some event or person, or tweaked a mysterious feeling that you are curious about. Please jot down words, phrases or even sentences, as you read, before the subtle feelings or insights fade away.

Please select one of the points you noted, either from the presentation video, the live class or the written materials. Set a ten-minute timer and plunge into your Wild Mind Writing experience. You can set the inner critic aside. We are looking for what your deeper “Design Mind” has to say. Don’t worry about spelling, punctuation, diction, or anything. If such concerns come up, tell your mind you are busy writing.

You are very likely to be surprised by what you write and by how much you know, as you dive into the Centers. They are part of you, and you have your unique relationship with each of them. This relationship is closer than smelling your own nose. Just let the words come out, and you can discover what they mean on many levels when you re-read what you have written. This is a thrilling and revealing process, which is truly astounding in both the short and the long run.

One of the most important aspects of Wild Mind Writing is not to edit your work. Please let it stand as it is. In short, don’t touch it. If you want to say more, please do another wild mind writing session, or a bunch of them. When the Design mind speaks, it is not confined to being only rational because it includes a super-sensible knowing, which is both profound and breathtaking.

Since your sessions only take ten minutes, you can do as many as you want, and select the one you like the best to share in class. Remember, don’t let your inner critic or intellect interfere with your process. Don’t forget to read your piece out loud before class, just to hear it, and make sure you can read your writing. Working on punctuation is fair game, but please do not change words.

One very interesting thing is how much your Wild Mind explorations mean to other people. Hearing your voice may be just what they need.  We will all be excited to hear and appreciate your work. When you read a 10 minute wild mind write, it takes about 2 to 3 minutes. This gives time for everyone to read and gives our teachers time to give you appreciations and insights about your chart and what they have heard. It is also special to hear a brief summary of what you got out of the process. Remember, the most essential ingredient of the wild mind writing session is the timer and stopping when it goes off. Oddly, this gives your deep consciousness the signal to be direct so you can record its raw truth and way of expressing itself on a deep level.
